Over the past two years, I’ve been sprayed with water pistols by teenagers on three separate occasions in Switzerland — once in Zürich and twice in Bern. To be clear, these incidents didn’t happen at a Badi, a pool, or during any kind of water fight. In each case, we were simply walking down the street when teenagers passed by and deliberately sprayed us, sometimes from behind and sometimes in groups. One time, I was hit directly in the face. What bothered me most is that we never received an apology. They just laughed and ran or rode away. That’s why it didn’t feel like harmless fun to us. I know getting sprayed with water may sound minor, but after it happening three times in two different cities, I’m starting to wonder whether this is a common trend, bad luck, or something else. For context, I’m Asian. I’m not claiming that’s the reason, but after the third incident I can’t help wondering whether it’s relevant or if these events were completely random. Has anyone else experienced something similar in Switzerland? How did you handle it, and is there anything you would do if it happened again? submitted by /u/traffic_in_the_skyyy
