I’m curious about your ideas suggestions on how to meet mostly male friends in Basel and around as a 46 year old married man. I’ve been living in Basel and Switzerland for almost 9 years now, with my wife and daughter. Got to c.a. B2 in Hochdeutsch, but I don’t understand Schweizerdeutsch yet beyond some basic expressions (I work exclusively in English in big pharma). Have been focused on work and raising my daughter a lot, and staying healthy, with little time for much else, especially for growing the analog social network. I played in squash clubs, but interestingly enough, no one stays for a drink after the game, everyone disappears quickly. I know younger folks go for drinks via meetups etc., but I avoid drinking and honestly would feel a bit awkward joining a group of 20-somethings via meetup.com.
