Hey everyone, I’ve been using Claude Sonnet and Claude Code since they launched, and I’ve never had issues like this before. But lately, Sonnet seems completely incapable of understanding anything. In Claude Code, even the absolute simplest instructions are completely misunderstood. It will randomly execute things that are entirely out of context. Worse, it frequently hallucinates action it will say it’s doing something, but then it doesn’t actually do it (for example, making empty Git commits with absolutely zero file modifications). Right now, the only way I can actually get anything done is by switching over to Opus. Honestly, even Haiku feels better than Sonnet at this point. From what I can tell, this massive degradation started happening right around the release of Fable 5. Another huge issue: once the context window reaches about 40%, the model just starts “compacting” everything, forgetting details, and losing the plot entirely. Is it just me having terrible luck, or have you guys noticed this severe downgrade too? submitted by /u/kaolay
