Hi, I’m an AI engineer, about 7 years of work experience, so I started to code when there was not any ChatGPT, vibe coding, or Claude SDD like now. My company, started to promote the SDD and use of Claude to code it all for you this year, and I’ve been assigned to a project where we are building all using SDD, and we have been told not to touch a line of code: any line of code should be written by Claude. Problem is, in the last 3 months I’m watching myself just writting prompts to Claude to do things, then waiting to read his response and click yes, yes, yes, yes, then “Write the commit messages and do the PR” then yes, yes, yes, yes. To be honest, I’m feeling like my brain is disconnecting every day it passes. When we did that work all by ourselves, maybe we were slower, but man, solving problems makes you smarter, just sitting in a chair and let the AI do all the work for you, I feel it makes you dumb in the long term. I don’t want to get too philosophical about the repercussions of this, but I wanted to ask… Is really someone enjoying this kind of work? I’ve discussed this with a friend who is in the same situation, and I think that, for the person who is really architecting the solution, maybe it can be interesting, because that’s the job of thinking, but for the rest of the people, who have been granted just the SPECS and the task of “iterate using Claude”, what’s the enjoy on this? submitted by /u/juacamgo
