Hello everyone, I am currently working as a Linux system administrator, and I also continue my work as a hobby with mini homelab projects at home. I love using AI; I am a bit obsessed with using tools like Hermes Agent and OpenCode effectively, and I try to pay attention to this and enjoy the process. There is a topic I would like to ask about: I use AI agents especially for conducting small-scale research, experimenting in my mini homelab, debugging when I encounter errors, or searching for and testing alternatives to tools I’m currently using. Of course, I also occasionally use them for debugging stages at work. They are very helpful for identifying points I might not notice or might overlook. I’ve found great benefit in simply making the detection and then applying the appropriate solution. Similarly, at times, I have them write small productivity tools that I will use only for myself. However, there is a topic that has been on my mind lately: I am currently using OpenCode along with a $200 Claude Max subscription. To be honest, as someone who tries to stay loyal to the Free Software Philosophy, using services like Claude doesn’t sit well with me. Instead, I am looking for a model that is more non-profit, or one that aims to make people’s lives easier while remaining transparent and flexible. I am also using Hermes Agent with a MiniMax subscription to help with my personal psychology tracking, reminders, and ADHD. Do you have any model recommendations specifically for the points I mentioned above, other than Claude or perhaps including Claude (if I absolutely have to use it…)? I would love to hear about your experiences as well; apologies if I’ve gone on too long. Thank you very much. submitted by /u/Linux_Headbanger
