Few years ago I was enjoying my time in No Man sky (survival based space game) where in order to progress you often have to collect, build, explore, use the things to your disposal to get to your destination and work within the limitations given. That was until a friend of mine ruined it all for me with one thing… he showed how you could pause the game swap to a mode named “Creative” take any resources you need and swap it back… I was stunned that you could do that. Why would they even implement that?! It defeated the whole purpose in that moment for me and I never played ever again. For him he saw no issue with it, he said: I’m not going to fly there to collect some stuff and back this is the faster way and we can move on the next thing. We had a few chats about this later on and we came to the realisation that we play games for different things. For him it was about the goal ahead and getting there as soon as possible using anything to his disposal. To me it was about seeing what we can do within the limitations given and how we to get to the destination, that to me was the experience rather then just getting to the endgoal. I had fun in the whole process and the slow pace, hurdles and hardships was part of the appeal to me, it makes me more excited about How I got there then when I will get there. Now here comes Gen Ai in the creative industry space and we are standing here again sort of. One side enjoys working with the tools and limitations they have and seeing how they get to the end goal of creating. The other is mostly just interested in the endgoal itself. This debate will never end, because they both have a different set of values and priorities. We will always have those who find the journey more important then the destination and the other way around. One side isn’t going to swap to the other side. Which is why I believe that there will always be the creative studios that choose the tools because they prefer to enjoy the process mostly while other creative Gen Ai studios will exist because they all about getting to that goal as quick as possible. On the client side there will be clients who are also mostly intrested in the final product alone and those who are in it for the journey along the way in order to get to their destination. Now besides all the legal aspects of AI I think both will need to co-exist to please both viewpoints for the clients and for the workers. Time will tell what the balance of the two is. The whole reason to me why this topic is such a complex one is because its mostly a psychological one, where you have to ask yourself “What are my values and what do I value most here?” submitted by /u/MrYundaz
