Seriously just try it. After using 4.8 since release I set it at the start of the day and not having to communicate with 4.8 all day has somehow made me feel slightly more relaxed. I find that i’m not randomly frustrated by tangents or weird framing and it just writes in a way that’s a bit easier to read. On top of everything else it’s nice to have a model that can return several 1-3 line responses in a row (!) when warranted. Still using 4.8 subagents on code work, but i have 4.6 as a buffer between me and them. —— EDIT: my context, CLAUDE.md’s are constantly audited, updated, pruned, written to follow Anthropics own guidelines per model. Some people mention fixations / context poisoning in the thread, and for me it’s an issue. Sometimes even just installing a skill with a certain description (not even invoked) can start creating some weird behaviour. The one thing I’ve never changed, is the default system prompt and communication/output style. But since they made Opus 4.8 skip this block I thought better than to mess with it. submitted by /u/junlim
