Today I was working with my 5x subscription on Claude Code and something really weird happened with the five-hour usage limit. I was checking the usage and it was showing that I was around 35% of the five-hour limit, but while I was working it suddenly started warning me that I was approaching the usage limit, which already seemed strange because the number it was showing did not match that at all. Also, I’m quite used to the rate limits and can tell intuitively around more or less if I might be approaching rate limit. I definitely hadn’t used it at all to even justify a 60% rate limit on my 5x sub. I refreshed the page to check if it was just some temporary display issue, and it was still showing something like 40% usage, but then from one moment to the next it suddenly, locked me out and jumped straight to 100% as if I had actually used the whole limit. I know usage tracking is probably not perfectly real-time, but this felt way too abrupt and inconsistent, especially because I was actively checking the percentage and it did not look anywhere near the limit before the warning appeared. I have seen a few other posts here mentioning similar issues, so I wanted to ask if anyone else has had this happen recently, because right now it feels like something is not being calculated correctly. This just amounts to all the dishonest behaviour coming from Anthropic, and their constant rate limit cuts, and shady shenanigans. Not to talk about their shitty CEO talking down open weight models. I was already subscribed to regular Codex sub, but I am confident now that I will be jumping ship, and going with ClosedAI for now. Hopefully open weight models will redeem us of this circus of clowns one of these days… submitted by /u/hatekhyr
