I did it. I feel like Frodo at the end of return of the king. I achieved blood torva when I almost gave up several times. I know everyone and their mother is doing Blood Moon Rises but id like to make one final post on the Blood Torva grind i just completed. A post mortem of sorts. I’ve got some tips, complaints, and general thoughts for players who are looking to start their own journey killing these bosses. This will be listed in order of difficulty (from my POV) from hardest to easiest. Vardorvis: This awakened fight was the most fun for me personally. It’s extremely mechanically intense, and mistakes are very punishing. You CAN get lucky during enrage where you may get only 1 or 0 axe spawns in your lane, but do not count on it. If you are just learning this fight and progressing it, the number 1 rule i can tell you is prioritize dodging axes above all. If you’re going to get smited, eat the vardorvis melee hit as opposed to risking a 96 off prayer and a bleed. You should be practicing confidence swapping prayers realizing the boss cannot melee you until both of his head attacks have. I died 188 times on this boss, but never felt burnt out. It’s a very tough, engaging fight and is by far the hardest fight in old school runescape. 10/10 Difficulty Leviathan: There’s a misconception about this boss that it’s the hardest fight in the game and it’s really not at all, in my experience. If you’re going for this boss, recognize that almost every kill video on youtube ( you can look it up ) has an incredibly spooned enrage. That will be how you will likely kill this boss too. Every single guide on awakened Leviathan also says this. I doubt anyone but a select few have killed this boss getting an absolutely cooked Enrage phase where he just 1 tick alternates the whole time. The first 80% of the fight is just boring, easy setup for enrage. It’s a loop of dodging lightning, and placing boulders. For this boss, if i had to give anyone advice, just do EVERY attempt anticipating a spooned enrage. And an even better tip i can give you is to keep Auto Retaliate on. If you’re 1 tick flicking i found in a lot of my attempts, and even my kill, you will just get a free TBow shot without clicking the boss yourself. It helps. 6/10 Difficulty Whisperer: Longest fight in the game. You need to carefully maintain your sanity meter. Pillar phase, just memorize the 3 lowest hp pillars and do the 4th and 5th after. For ghosts, kill the sanitas ones and then triple eat and eat the 70 or so damage. Not much to say here, she’s 3rd difficulty because you need to do 9 special attacks. Also her enrage is deceptively hard. Best tip i can give for this boss is to not watch her health bar, focus entirely on movement, and dodging her aoe. Your focus should be on executing special attacks without staying in the shadow realm for more than a few seconds. I hated this fight, IMO it’s very bloated and tedious. 4/10 Difficulty. Duke: So i tried the ranged cheese method for this boss which was a big mistake. It’s very RNG dependent, and reddit commentors (when they weren’t being extremely toxic) pointed out that if I just did the intended melee method I would be done much quicker. They were right. The hardest part of this fight for those starting this grind is the area around 28-24% hp. I found during my melee attempts, i would push him into enrage mid acid walk and the entire rhythm would get fucked because i had a scythe equipped. Biggest tip i can give is try and wait to push him to enrage until after an acid walk is complted so you can swap to emberlight and get into a 4 tick cycle. This boss is the worst boss in the game, i hate it on every level. The prep alone wasted so much of my life and NOBODY can convince me it needs to be in the game. It takes around 2 minutes or so. Of my 80 deaths, do the math. 160 minutes. Almost 3 hours. Doing boring bullshit prep. I saved this boss for last, and glad i did. The extra motivation to finish the grind pushed me through this horribly balanced and awful boss. 2/10 Difficulty. 0/10 Enjoyment. Anyways - thanks for reading. It’s been a month of grinding, almost 500m in total supply costs including deaths. Teleports. Orbs. All of it. Radiant oathplate soon… submitted by /u/The_Siphon
