The Sap-treated Log change highlights a much bigger issue than just one item. Every time Jagex releases a new skilling method, it feels like they have to carefully consider how it fits alongside existing high-efficiency methods like tick manipulation. Not “Is this fun?” Not “Is this a good reward?” Not “Will more players enjoy skilling?” Just “Will it threaten the sacred current highest XP rates?” We’ve now reached a point where a Grandmaster quest reward can’t even make an existing method easier to perform because it might threaten a meta that only a tiny percentage of players actually use. That means every current and future skilling method has its XP rates capped by an unintended mechanic from 20 years ago and an arbitrary XP rate that was decided 20 years ago with the intention of no one ever getting level 99 in a skill. Why is skilling, something that outside of ironmen mostly exists just for quest and diary requirements, still being balanced around preserving tick manipulation as the benchmark?
