Original Reddit post

Here is yesterday’s numbers for my first Max 20x account (i have two so i used 3-4 billion tokens yesterday. I asked ChatGPT to format the ccusage data for a post elsewhere on reddit, and it decided to editorialize on my behalf. Posting here because i thought it was cute, and also because everyone is always posting about how bad the limits are, so here’s a counterpoint.

Title: Yesterday’s Claude Code usage was completely unhinged I knew I had been pushing Claude Code pretty hard yesterday, but I just checked ccusage and… yeah. This is not normal human behaviour. Date Model Input Output Cache Create Cache Read Total Tokens Cost 2026-07-02 claude-fable-5 4,847,525 10,108,854 94,568,923 2,018,226,621 2,127,751,923 $2,038.44 claude-opus-4-8 So that is: 2.13 billion tokens in one day 2.018 billion cache-read tokens 94.6 million cache-write/create tokens 10.1 million output tokens $2,038.44 of metered usage Roughly 95% cache-read tokens , which is doing a lot of heavy lifting here The genuinely funny thing is that most of this was productive work. Not vibes. Not asking it to write poems about Kubernetes. Actual large-codebase, multi-session Claude Code work. Still, seeing 2.1 billion tokens for a single calendar day is a bit of a “sir, please step away from the terminal” moment.

Thanks Chat. But yeah nah…most of it was probably just vibin’. ;) submitted by /u/Harvard_Med_USMLE267
