Original Reddit post

Long time non-tech lurker - my presence in these sort of subreddits increases when the algorithm starts shoving all things new AI releases/news in my face (i.e., basically right now). Reddit is likely not the best place to be finding myself, as the more I delve into posts, the more echochamber-y everything seems. My completely non-tech two cents, which no one asked for (but whatever it‘s here now (as was AI being released to the public in 2022 lol)), is who knows what to expect for the future. Looking at the varied perspectives on what’s to come, whether it be from big tech researchers, tenured software engineering professionals or just those interested in AI of the who what where why and how things will pan out, bloody hell I’m overwhelmed. The speed to which things have evolved in this space induces whiplash on the best of days - this stuff is incredible but, scary. Maybe I could lose my job, maybe my job will be augmented - who honestly knows. But I ultimately conclude that once I’m done typing this out I’m going to need to touch some grass. Rome wasn’t built in a day nor was AI (although progress never stops). This post has likely contributed hardly anything to this subreddit (other than just words into the void), but putting into words the absolutely overwhelming feeling of dread of not knowing what I don’t know about a topic is constantly evolving is therapeutic. submitted by /u/HaterOfCoriander
