I understand that a lot of people are struggling or at least dreading the final boss of The Blood Moon Rises. I just completed the quest a few hours ago on my iPad, and I am an active avoider of bosses and most PvM. My account is maxed, but I only used Elite Void Melee, an Amulet of Fury, Aranea Boots, a Dragon Defender, and a Warrior’s Ring (i) to emerge victorious. It really and truly is just a matter of getting accustomed to dodges and avoiding a good chunk of the special attacks. The only way to do so is with practice, and one can always leave the fight if things are going south in order to resupply and jump right back in. To those feeling nervous about the fight, I offer a few tips. Most importantly, get a feel for dodging Lowerniel’s spear attacks. Because supplies are free and right down the nearby staircase, there is no cost beyond a modicum of time to practice the basic dodges at the start of the fight. Being able to string successful dodges avoids the vast majority of damage that one is likely to take during the fight, which means less strain on supplies later down the line. Speaking of supplies… Take full advantage of the free supplies. Before each attempt, overheal with the brews and ensure Prayer is full. I succeeded with two combat potions, three restore potions, the emergency Congealed Blood, and the rest of my Inventory (minus two slots for teleportation) consisted of the brews. It is perfectly okay to be liberal with supplies early on if it means getting more practice in avoiding most of the damage for a different attempt, or if one has a bad start at the very first combo from Lowerniel, it’s okay to just leave, heal, and start on a stronger footing. Just keep an eye on your combat stats after sipping many brews. You won’t need to boost your stats very often, but keeping them high will help the fight end sooner. Try to save plenty of boosts for the third phase, when ending the fight with victory is close at hand, and one can be more liberal with remaining supplies. You are able to make numerous mistakes. I have utterly failed to avoid several full combos from Lowerniel and spammed healing from brews as quickly as I could many times while he was actively stabbing me. Just try to keep your health topped off after taking a hit or two if you have a spare moment, but if push comes to shove, I found that I was generally able to drink and tank full combos several times. Try to avoid what you can, of course, but tanking several combos to the face is unlikely to be enough to ruin an attempt. If you make it to phase three, watch out for those pools! They subtly disable prayer, and facing Lowerniel without Protect from Melee on is VERY bad news that can easily stack you out if you aren’t dodging, and you will not be able to heal faster than you are damaged without your protection prayer. My last two failures were because I didn’t realize that my prayer was off until it was too late. Try to keep that Congealed Blood on hand for here in case you find yourself suddenly taking way more damage, then get that prayer back on as soon as you can. Breathe! You WILL get it eventually. Being able to try again immediately upon leaving or falling to Lowerniel helps immensely. The fight takes a while, so being able to retry immediately means that a lot of practice can be obtained, and each attempt will improve you in some way. Remember, you only need one kill to win, and he only wins if you give up on yourself. With that said, I wish you the best of luck, prospective vampyre slayer! Remember, you truly can be far from perfect and make many errors and still succeed. I actively don’t like PvM much, but with enough patience and willingness to practice and learn, I was able to do it with a fair amount of healing to spare, and so can you. You’ve got this! submitted by /u/Tasty-Burger-OSRS
