I was jokingly telling friends and family at the beginning of the year that it was “the year of the horse” and I had all these foundations laid out to make 2026 “my year”. Then 6~ weeks ago I got unexpectedly made redundant from my remote job, the same week my girlfriend of 2 years had a stage 2 Lymphoma diagnosis. She’s now 4/6 chemotherapy sessions in - life comes at you fast. I’ve gone freelance and I feel like “somehow” I’m making it work. I’ve so far billed my client for nearly 3x month’s pay from my old role for a bulk project so far, and they’ll be a one day a week retainer from this month, and I’m in chats with other potential clients as well. It’s not been what I expected it to be at all, and I’m trying to just roll with the punches. I’ve paid off my credit card debt and I’m 1/4 of the way towards my step goal for a big walk for charity that I’ve been doing. Life’s weird. How’s your 2026 been so far? Any goals hit? Is your second half looking like it’ll be alright? submitted by /u/thelaughingman_1991
