Curious how others are experiencing the post-quest area of Vampyrium. I was a big fan of the quest. I think it offered something for everyone, whether you enjoy lore, puzzles, bosses, or just the general atmosphere of the area and quest line. Post-quest I’ve felt like Vampyrium feels like a bit of an unfinished product. I think people are enjoying the Maggot King, which seems like the main attraction at the moment. I have my own issues with the boss unrelated to the drop table. The bloodwood tree skilling method I quite like. What remains: The leechfin fishing (which I’ve seen estimates for 10-15 blood vials/hr) which is just a reskinned perilous moons fishing method… haven’t seen many people interacting with this. I know the reward space was reworked a couple times and maybe that is part of it. Venators feel pretty mid, seems like an alternative to vyres, but nothing to write home about. The hunter methods don’t seem terribly game changing either, letveks are just a new chin which feeds into stymphikes which seem comparable to like AFKing manaical monkeys. It’s still early I know, but the draw of BMR and Vampyrium feels quite hollow. Maybe my expectations weren’t set properly, but I’m contrasting this area with any of the Varlamore expansions which pretty drastically shifted early/mid game metas and introduced content appetizing across the player base (Gemstone crab for AFKing, Mixology, Huey, Moons, Colo, Hunter Guild, etc). Comparing this to the end of the Elf quest line where we unlock Priff (Opening up CG, Divine potions, Zalcano, Agility course, a slayer cave, the Chally, various shops and hot spots), in my opinion the rewards and draw of Vampyrium seem to pale in comparison. For an RS3 comparison (as controversial as it might be here), River of Blood (finale of the myreque line) opens up a method to train prayer to 99 and acquire heaps of seeds, herbs and supplies. I don’t think OSRS needs that, but I feel there is a lack of identity in the reward space. I know Varlamore and Priff look very different today than on release, so I’m hoping that this area does evolve into more, but as-is it feels pretty mid and I’m not sure if there are discussions about expanding the area more. Song of the Elves feels like such a milestone for most players, where BMR while a great quest itself right now seems like a sort of side thing to do to grab a bis range necklace and arrows. submitted by /u/bennbatt
