In the latest blogpost, we’re talking about a new reward, a Chisel, that has some benefits in some circumstances. However, for some reason, there isn’t enough dev time to make this chisel work like an actual chisel. It will only work on some items that a chisel normally works on. (see post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1uprqy9/wyrmscraig_uniques_blog_updated_based_on_feedback/ow2dp52/ , please don’t attack mod Light here, it’s not about his message, just the overall philosphy) On the Jeweller’s Chisel, the answer is yes, it won’t function as a regular chisel. We know that means you’ll still need a standard chisel for other activities, but keeping it limited to uncut gems is what keeps the reward within scope. I don’t really care about this chisel itself, but it seems really weird to me that they would consider releasing items that straight up don’t function properly, causing confusion for any player in the future who might want to use it. How come that after multiple sub price increases, a massively increased dev team, a much larger game, and 20 years of extra developments in software engineering, it is apparently not possible to do things they could do 20+ years ago? My assumption is that this is because the polling is so last-minute compared to the release, but if that’s the case, we just need to get polls sooner, or they need to leave more room in their deadlines to actually implement feedback. To be clear: This isn’t about the Chisel itself. It’s about jagex considering adding un-intuitive items to the game because they don’t have the dev time available to do it properly. I understand they don’t want to (and shouldn’t) delay the patch for something like this, but I do think it’s important that we point out things like this. submitted by /u/ronoudgenoeg
