For a bit of context, I’m training as a counselling psychologist and I’m also an MBACP-registered counsellor. Before training, I spent 7 years working in construction, so I’ve seen first-hand how differently mental health is often talked about depending on the environment you’re in. One thing I’ve noticed working with men is that many arrive at therapy having had lots of questions or uncertainties about what it actually involves, but never having had the chance to ask them. Sometimes those unanswered questions seem to have been one of the things that held them back from seeking help in the first place. So I thought I’d open up a chance here. Whether it’s about men’s mental health, what therapy is actually like, whether counselling is right for certain problems, or something you’ve always been curious about, ask away. I’ll answer as openly and honestly as I can while staying within professional boundaries. submitted by /u/moomin4964
