The current log on system only allow you to log on to a single game, and if you want to play both game at the sametime you would need to purchase membership for two characters, which isn’t really affordable considering the cost for a single character atm. With all the rs3 game revamp, new skills, new quests, new boss, unique updates and leagues, rs3 is becoming an awesome alternative to OSRS when things are slow. Current RS3 population is quite limited for a MMORPG, and RS3 worlds could use a population boost if Simultaneous log in would be implemented. And it will quickly fill those empty rs3 world, bring life back to all the empty areas. Ofcourse, Jagex would prefer if everyone bought 2 membership subscriptions, but with the current price level, that would only be possible for small group of dedicated players. The majority of players have limited game time, and thus they will only dedicate time on a single version of Runescape, but if they were able to play both Simultaneously, they could spam some ability keys on rs3 while afking activity on osrs. This will improve the value people are getting for the current subscription cost, as they will have access to both games at the sametime, enjoying of the development effort put in by the all of the developers at Jagex. The boost to active player numbers will becomes an attractive factor to potential new players whom never played runescape before, and prefers the more polish graphics and action bar combat of RS3.
