My first post here so I hope I’m in the right space So… I’m 31M, and I believe that I can finally see a clear picture of what my life’s purpose is, which has sort of coalesced itself over the past couple of years. By that I mean that I seem to have discovered a personal “quest” - a long-term vision for a specific project > goal > dream, and a tentative plan laid out towards achieving it, with the confidence that I’m fully capable of doing so, as long as I don’t buckle or throw in the towel. Obviously, my 20s were a big effin’ mess, but having made it through the aimless fog to the other side, in hindsight I believe I wouldn’t have discovered all this stuff about myself, i.e. what my ambitions, strengths, and weaknesses really are, through any other way. My initial project is basically a creative concept that I came up with that fills a niche that hasn’t yet been filled, and I know that it could have a major positive impact on my community, which I could leave behind when I die and hopefully be remembered for. It doesn’t matter whether I actually succeed, but I’m adamant that working to make this thing a reality is my path now. So, I guess I just wanted to hear from y’all if/when you had a similar “epiphany” around this age. Does any of this resonate with your own life story at all? Bonus: If you’re approaching retirement age, looking back, how much did any of what you’ve achieved in life match your initial expectations? …or did the way you perceive your own goals/dreams/purpose change drastically over the years? Do you have any advice you’d like to share? Thanks a lot, and peace be with you. submitted by /u/tomatos_raafatos
