A video from a week ago by The Neuron interviewing Ph.D. Eve Bodnia about a new kind of reasoning AI she has created with her team; an Energy Based Reasoning Model. Eve discusses how intelligence in general is not language-dependent and how the token-free (and hallucination-free?) EBRM can work in more abstract ways than we’re used to with mainstream AI. She also talks about different hybrid configurations of energy-based models with other kinds of models (such as LLMs) for practical problem-solving, or using a language model as a lossy interface between humans and an EBM. However, she seemed to somewhat dodge the question of how well these models generalize so they are likely still somewhat limited by the types of data they are trained with. Furthermore, it sounds like they are planning to keep it mostly closed and proprietary for now. submitted by /u/hum_ma
