I was thinking about this earlier, maybe 8 years ago I met a girl at work that had “been separated over a year but we haven’t signed the papers yet” and we started casually dating. I was a travel nurse at the time and I knew I would be leaving in 3-6 months anyways so it was just fun to me. And then one day I randomly get a stream of texts from her cellphone saying “I hate you, don’t ever talk to me again, get the fuck out of my life” and I just shrugged it off and moved on to the next person I was interested in. A week later she came up to me and asked why I hadn’t texted her lately and I showed her “the texts she had sent me”… And she goes “OMG I’m so sorry my ex husband came over to get the dog and he must’ve went through my phone when I wasn’t looking” I said “he came over to get the dog?” Her: “Yeah we basically share custody of the dog and we each get it every other week” lol So to me, that’s far from “we’ve done everything but sign the papers”… after that I decided never again submitted by /u/gamerdudeNYC
