Rejoined Claude Max Plan this June just for Fable 5. First, it got delayed to July 1 because of US government issues. Fine, whatever. Then Anthropic announced: Fable 5 only stays in the subscription for one week Fable 5 can only consume only 50% of the weekly limit Fable 5 will refuse tons of normal coding tasks and hand them to Opus 4.8 Like… I paid $100+ for Max Plan and this is the treatment I get? Back then Fable 5 was the strongest model on earth, so we just had to swallow it. But in less than three weeks — now GPT 5.6 Sol dropped, Kimi K3 dropped, and both are on par with Fable 5. I’m honestly grateful other companies can compete with Anthropic. I’m so done with them disrespecting their customers. “Competition drives progress. When one company dominates, consumers suffer.” — forever true. For us solo devs: we don’t have big company budgets, we can’t afford API rates, but we still have the drive to build products.
