Definition of “Immolate”: to kill/destroy by fire. The volatile special attack is almost as useless as the nox hally in PvM. Having it as a fire spell means it benefits from monsters with fire weakness. Players do not have a weakness to fire thus nothing changes in PvP. For example, on the Maggot King (the boss with highest fire weakness so far) has 80% fire weakness. Even if you were to apply the 80% multiplicatively (final max hit*1.8) a max hit of 156 would still make it weaker than a zcb spec. Current volatile spec: 87 max hit (with ward (f)), 55 for a spec, 66.31% accuracy on the Maggot King thus 9.618 DPS/spec and 0.175 DPS/“spec point” or “Spec-only DPS”. With the 80% fire weakness applied on the final hit, 17.31 DPS/spec and 0.315 Spec-only DPS. In comparison, zcb with Masori top, range pot and Rigour, 30.509 DPS/spec and 0.407 “Spec-only DPS”. With just a bare zcb as the swap (no rigour, no range pot, etc.), 26.015 DPS/Spec and 0.347 Spec-only DPS. In the weakest case for ZCB, it is still beating it. Now, if you have a 5 burn stacks (-100 magic defence), volatile spec is 0.430 Spec-only DPS. However, during the screech, the boss has 100 defence. ZCB with just a masori top switch is 0.432 Spec-only DPS. In any case, the volatile never beats the current best-in-slot spec weapon in the place where it gets the most benefit if its special attack is considered a fire spell. However, it makes it so there are more options for a decent spec weapon. There is no reason why the spec shouldn’t be considered a fire spell. It also opens more doors for it to be useful in different places. If not, change the name of the spec. submitted by /u/vinkker
