I’m an avid collector of Swiss army stuff, and I’ve noticed a strange trend; while surplus items from a particular country tend to be less expensive in the country in question, this isn’t the case in Switzerland. Cold War uniform pieces which go for €10 to €30 in the rest of Europe, suddenly go for 50.- to even 100.- here. Why is this? It’s not like they’re particularly rare, and while they are used as fashion items, I’d then expect the foreign price to at least match the domestic price. There isn’t a huge market for Swiss militaria in Switzerland either, I’d go so far as to say that there’s a bigger market for Swiss militaria outside of Switzerland rather than inside of it. Having said that, I’d like to ask; does anybody know if there’s a specific reason why Swiss army prices seem to be so inflated here? Thanks! submitted by /u/militaryautist
