My girlfriend and I have been together for four years now, and our relationship is pretty great. We got called out to go to a club, and this is my first time ever because I’ve always been pretty introverted and partying was never my scene, but my girlfriend is extroverted, so she told me to come along with this other couple, and then two minutes after we walked in, her and her friend met some girl in the washroom who told them that she can get her into a booth with these other guys who can get them free drinks and both of them ditched us to do that. This was literally my first time going into a setting like this and my anxiety was already high because, like I said, I’m introverted and I have social anxiety. I was really excited for this night because I was like, OK, I will break out of my shell and have some fun, and then this hurt a lot just seeing her in the booth from a distance, not being allowed to go near her, the bouncer stopping us from going near the table. It was really humiliating. The other guy was acting like he’s OK with it, but freaking out trying to find cash and saying, well, we lost our girls for the night. After like 15 minutes of just standing there feeling like a complete loser, wondering why even said OK to this, I walked out and just went for a walk and wanted to go home. Eventually, they did go back onto the floor from that booth, and then that other guy was texting me to come back, and then my girlfriend texted me saying that she was pissed off that I abandoned her, and she’s done with me, and she’s so frustrated and how I embarrassed her by walking out of the club, and then those other two are telling her that she should cheat on me for doing this. I did end up going back, but I felt like I was insane and I felt like I was in the wrong for walking out the way those three were acting like I abandoned her. This is completely normal for women to ditch their men at clubs for VIP The thing is, if both of those girls went alone and did the VIP thing, I’d be OK with that. My girlfriend did that on her girls trip to Ibiza and I was completely fine, but the fact that I broke out of my shell was like, OK, let’s actually have some fun at this club. It’s my first time. I’m 30 and never did it. Let’s give it a try and then this happens within two minutes. Why even call me? It was so humiliating and my anxiety went through the roof. The other girl texted her after saying it’s unfortunate he didn’t understand that girls can get into VIP and guys can’t. Next time we should go alone. We will be a dangerous duo together Am I crazy for thinking that I wasn’t terrible for just exiting the situation that was making me feel all these emotions and felt like a humiliation ritual with the bouncers making fun of us for this and just trying to collect my thoughts or are they actually right that I did abandon her? I guess I’m not used to these kind of social settings, so I’m genuinely just a mess mentally trying to figure out what is right and what is wrong. submitted by /u/Visual-Tax6723
