I 24m have been living with a fantastic roomate for the past six months. He’s moving out now and I’ll be taking on the full rent amount. My rent has been $900 and now that he’s moving out it will be $1800 not including some etc which will bring me to ~2k / month. I’ve been very happy with my lifestyle so far, spending in total $2k a month tops, with lots of travel, dates, eating out. Now that I’ll be taking on this additional financial cost, I am hesitant because of the change it will have on my lifestyle. I’m open to another roommate, but this has been such a pleasant experience that I kind of want to keep it at that. A girl I have been romantic with offered to be my roommate, but I declined because I think that could get very complex and maybe emotionally burdensome with finances involved. If anyone else had been through this, I’d appreciate any advice or mindset. For context, I’ve just finished my graduate degree and am self-employed. I have enough savings to last about a year, but the burn rate increases now that he’s moving out. How should I adjust my mindset? submitted by /u/ComprehensiveHunt533
