Years ago I played a lot of WoW, almost entirely because everyone in my friend group got on board for the Classic (+…) experience. A lot of them ditched soon after , but that was when I realized I enjoy the chill parts of the game more than the actual raiding. Helping each other out with complementary professions, I enjoyed that part more than I thought and especially cooking (latter VERY important in hardcore) more than when I was a raging 14yo playing WoTLK. Chiller experience all round. It was a brief spell but it reminded me why I still loved MMOs at all. In the time since I gave LOTRO a try (because professions are also a big thing and you can level with them) and tried some other cozier MMOs as well, latest of which was Loftia in the closed beta they had some months prior, turning out to be an amazing cozy MMO by the looks of it. Because down the line I realized I enjoy crafting/cosmetics and progression to be tied together in a pressure free loop. That sort of chill playstyle is more and more appealing to me now, in my old age (/s, more like middle age) than any sort of combat that an MMO can offer no matter how good. And yet somehow OSRS somehow passed me by completely for twenty odd years! Which brings me to the actual question. I love playing MMOs in a way I can only really describe as cozycore nowadays. How far can that playstyle actualy take me in OSRS? Is it viable to build a whole account and a whole enjoyable loop around the non combat skills, or does the game eventually force a sword into my hand whether I like it or not? … Can you take it all the way to the end, in other words? I’ve watched a few Youtubers who are also brand new to it go through their first hours. You know which type (X never played an MMO/ Previous League player tries Runescape, those videos) and I’m super interested in playing now, but I want some words of wisdom from the vets here.
