Hey all! I recently was reflecting on how I handle my emotions as a single 30M and wanted to gauge from others who are similar age and single how you process emotions and who you generally feel comfortable sharing with. Wondering how others might give themselves self-care, emotionally regulate, vent, whatever it is that you need when you might find yourself in a bit of a slump or in a sticky situation, and who do you feel are good people to help you through whatever issue you’ve got? I have a close group of friends I know I can go to; different people for different issues. Sometimes all I need is a good ol’ faithful vent/bitching sesh, but when something really has taken a toll on me, I find I am generally an internaliser and don’t show my concern or true feelings very easily at first. It can take me a day or two to just sit with my own emotions; I may journal them down or sit in silence in a park to help myself understand where my worry/stress/uncertainty/shame could be coming from. At that point I’ve reached a bit of a conclusion and might share the findings with someone, or more often, I’ve rationalised it’s either a non-issue or there is an appropriate avenue forward and it’s time to go back to enjoying the present. I’d love to hear how you guys might process some mental/lifely challenges and could try them myself submitted by /u/panky45
