One of the most important indicators of economic activity is the LFPR - https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CIVPART Many hands make for light work. When people drop out of the workforce, they become an increased burden on society. The boom in the 90’s was partly generated by people (women, especially) entering the workforce in large numbers. If AI discourages people from thinking they can compete effectively, will they start ‘giving up’ and not entering the workforce?
