Hello good people of the internet! I have the good and bad fortune of living on the French-speaking side of our beautiful country. Our schools being famously bad at teaching German (or us people being terrible at assimilating it…), I am unfortunately among the many people for whom the language never stick past school and although I have some memories, I can’t speak German at all and barely understand anything. It has now become a problem in my job searching, and is actively impeding me from being considered for most jobs I am would be interested in in my field. I think it is now time to put in the effort and actually learn German. I have come to you for advice about this. Do you have advice for learning Deutsch quickly and efficiently? I know it’s mostly about personal motivation and time invested in the end, but I am looking for anything you guys know that could be helpful, such as language apps (Duolingo has unfortunately become utter shit), TV shows/other media I could watch in German, online methods, any useful resources you might know of. I will add that I am currently not in a position to pay a lot of money for a reputable language school (as I only have a part time job and bills to pay), so all the better if the resource is free or cheap.
