I’ve experienced a really awesome engineering flow before Opus 5 released. Claude Code’s system prompt was changed, in a bad way that makes Opus 4.8 feel regressed as well. Stop trying to prove a point that “Smaller system prompts will work for smarter models” Opus was never dumb, the prompt improved the first-shot experiences that was well guarded and grounded. Removing them created the chaos, and the feeling of regression in Opus models. I switched back to Opus 4.8, and it feels worse than before. Simple “engineering intuition” that I have grown to appreciate the harnessed models on Claude Code for, now turn into repeated drillings per session, making work severely less productive than it was before the Opus 5 release. I’d appreciate better functionality in reverting system prompt versions on claude code to ones that genuinely worked. My TLDR so far is its not a “quantized big model smell” but just a shitty system prompt lol submitted by /u/Charming_Ad_4765
