I’m 20 years old and I’ve had constant tinnitus for around 2–3 years (for those who don’t know, it’s a constant ringing/buzzing sound that only you can hear). I’m pretty sure I caused it myself. I used to watch movies, YouTube, scroll Instagram, and listen to music with my headphones at 100% volume almost every day. Looking back, I was an absolute idiot, and I regret it every single day. I finally went to an ENT and got a hearing test done. Thankfully, my hearing is still within the normal range, but my tinnitus was matched at around 40–50 dB . The ringing is there 24/7. Quiet rooms are the worst, and some days it’s so loud that it genuinely drives me crazy. and my sleep schedule has been completely messed up lately. I’ve already stopped using headphones because I don’t want to make things worse. I’m not expecting some magic cure, but I’m hoping people who’ve actually dealt with tinnitus can share what genuinely helped them. What actually made the biggest difference for you? Whether it was better sleep, quitting headphones, TMJ treatment, CBT/TRT, sound therapy, supplements, physiotherapy, medication, or literally anything else—I’d really appreciate hearing your experience. Even if your tinnitus didn’t completely disappear but became much more manageable, I’d love to know what helped. I’m willing to try pretty much anything that’s safe and has a reasonable chance of helping. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/StupidToughts
