Hi everyone, after five years in Switzerland, I’m still unsure how people normally document disputes here. Three examples: UBS once closed my account. At the branch, I received a verbal explanation, but my request for written confirmation was refused. Swiss Post once refused to accept a prepaid return, but would not provide a written explanation or the name of the employee responsible. They just say you “no” and you can do nothing. In another case, a lawyer told me during a consultation that it was free, but the firm later sent me an invoice. When I said I might have a recording of the call, they cancelled the invoice but became extremely aggressive about the possibility that the consultation had been recorded. My general impression is that very little can be formally documented. In my culture, if something is not documented, it is difficult to prove or challenge later. If written confirmations are often refused and recordings are unacceptable, how would a Swiss person normally protect themselves and create evidence without unnecessarily escalating the situation? submitted by /u/Any_Description_9045
