I want to set the record straight for everyone doubting Jagex’s anti-cheat system, because I was one of the doubters too. I thought I was clever. I thought I could outsmart a multi-million dollar detection algorithm built by professionals whose entire job is catching wrongdoers like me. I was wrong, and I’m here to admit it. I got banned for macroing, and unlike some people on this forum, I’m not going to cry about it or write a novel about how “actually I was innocent.” No. I botted. I tried to be clever about it too, random mouse movements, breaks between clicks, even occasionally chatting with bystanders, I went as far as watching my bot go through its whole session, the whole playbook, and it didn’t matter one bit. Jagex saw through me clearer than a Crystal helm. Caught, red-handed within an hour of coming back after a one year break. I did appeal once, where I tried to lie and gaslight them. They read the whole thing, top to bottom, but their human customer support saw straight through my lies and denied it. Their bot detection system is 99.99% accuracy rate. Let that sink in. That’s not a system that makes mistakes, that’s a system that basically doesn’t miss. For context, that’s more accurate than most home pregnancy tests. More accurate than airport facial recognition. More accurate than your doctor. More accurate than the moon landing calculations, probably. NASA got Apollo 11 to the actual moon with less precision than Jagex uses to determine whether Steve_2007 was botting at sandcrabs. I’m not saying Jagex should be trusted with global infrastructure, I’m just saying I wouldn’t be shocked if they were asked. If you got banned, the math says it’s you, not them. I don’t make the rules, I just respect the algorithm. And no, the fact that there are bots out there farming Vorkath straight for two years on hijacked accounts, racking up 200m range XP without so much as a warning, doesn’t prove anything about Jagex, the system or the integrity of the company. That’s not a blind spot, that’s business, do you know how much money Jagex can rake in from membership fees from all these bot farms in one month??? Yeah, think twice before you speak, kid. And honestly this might be off topic but every single update Jagex has ever shipped has been correct and good, actually. Wilderness revamp, good, we just didn’t understand it yet. I’ve stopped questioning it. You don’t question a system that’s right 99.99% of the time, you just adapt to it. Everyone knows that Jagex is one of the top companies in the world when it comes to marketing. They will always support their streamers and never take anything to heart when it comes to criticism. They even hold polls for updates. But anyway that doesn’t matter of course because I will vote no to any pvp update, because who needs this right. Another thing, people need to stop pretending OSRS is quietly turning back into pre-EoC. It’s not. And thank god for that, because who in their right mind would want turmoil, Korasi, and summoning back in this game. And to be clear, the voidwaker is absolutely not Korasi’s sword with a new coat of paint. And what does summoning actually bring to the table? Unique account builds, unique gameplay, PvP viability outside of meta, multicombat pking, no thank you. Why would I want to be pked by some texic pker that would say ‘‘sit’’ the moment he kills me. pets in OSRS are absolutely not summoning with extra steps, and anyone who gets one has every right to be thrilled about it. It’s a completely different system with a completely different purpose that just so happens to also be a small companion that follows you around. Totally unrelated concepts. Why would I want those updates, when I could have unique PvM content instead, which is definitely not just the same three mechanics reskinned across forty different bosses. Finally, the new prayer updates and the Arceuus spell book is not a desperate denial for wanting turmoil back. These are new and unique updates, This is OSRS and not some pre-Eoc rip off. It actually pisses me off that people would assume we would want these pre-eoc updates back, OSRS players are literally FAMOUS for always looking at the future and not holding on to nostalgia. Who would want pre-EoC back? Everybody knows we all quit this game back then because of those damn pre-eoc updates!!! They were all so terrible. Damn you pre-eoc!!! Personally it’s very natural to me that the ags max hit now is 85 because back in the day we could hit those numbers too and it doesn’t matter anyway since hitpoints levels increase respectively too. What I’m trying to express is I actually agree adding turmoil would be too OP, and soulsplit and other curses, we don’t need those since we have the Arceuus spell book. Jagex clearly did the math on this one too, and who am I to check it. Anyway, ban stands, and honestly? Good. I needed the wake up call. Jagex, if you’re reading this, thank you for catching me. Never change. submitted by /u/Max-Trouble
