Not a woe is me post. Just asking. Mine was when I was in a senior position at a company a few years ago. The owner wanted to revamp the website and had a professional photographer come in and take pictures of all of us in our offices. We all dressed professionally, suit and tie etc etc. We all did the same sort of poses and angles sitting at our desks in our offices. Fast forward to when the website came out and I looked at it only to find I was the only one not on there. All 20ish other senior employees were on it except me. Even people who were under my management. I asked why and the owner said that the photographer (who was a woman) felt that I “didn’t fit the aesthetic of the theme”. Basically that was a nice way of her saying this dude is ugly as fuck and you don’t want his face to be seen on your website. What made it worse was I heard from a colleague there that the women who worked there agreed with the photographer. So that was my experience. submitted by /u/browsingonlynosub
