I know grief is different for everyone, and there’s no “right” timeline. I’m not asking about moving on or dating again. I mean the point where it finally felt real and you began to accept the loss. If you’re comfortable sharing, what was that journey like for you, and was there anything that helped along the way? This happened years ago but my girlfriend died of cancer. Honestly, I accepted that she wasn’t going to make it about two months before she passed away. Watching her fight so hard while seeing the cancer slowly ravage her body and her health decline was an incredibly sobering experience. Accepting what was coming was one of the hardest pills I’ve ever had to swallow. Even after she passed, it didn’t truly hit me until the day of her wake. I think it was about four months later before I finally accepted that she was no longer with us. It took a lot of support from my family and friends to help me get through the entire ordeal. What also helped was knowing she was finally at peace and in a far better place, where cancer could never hurt her again. submitted by /u/FFSoldier57
