If you learned that someone you’ve known casually for years had been feeling deep feelings for you that whole time without ever saying anything, what would actually go through your head, and how would it change the way you saw her? Assume it’s not someone you’re interested in, and/or that you’re in a committed relationship. I’m asking because I’m that person, and I feel horrible about it. I’ve never acted on it or made it his problem, but I’m fairly certain it got back to him recently through someone we both knew. I can’t tell whether the honest thing is to acknowledge it or to keep pretending it didn’t happen/neither of us knows or just to try to keep myself scarce. I’d rather hear it straight than be reassured. EDIT: As requested in comments, editing to add that I the woman who had/has the crush: I in my 40s, now married and the subject of the crush is in a 5 year relationship (not the same one he was in when I developed the crush). Since meeting, there has never been a time when both of us are single. The crush predated my meeting my husband. We now see this person every couple months at group gatherings and trips. And most importantly, although I still definitely have the feelings, I DON’T want to “confess” or whatever the kids call it today. I want to try to maintain some dignity in the face of having a crush exposed, and also hopefully not end up with him feeling super uncomfortable. submitted by /u/No_Recipe_1066
