I (m17) recently finished high school in North America and I moved to Switzerland until December to work and for a change in life for once. I’m living with grandparents on my mum’s side and I thought I would finally have a taste of independence living here, such as a late no curfew and other things etc. Instead I get in lots of arguments with my grandparents which I wish we didn’t. For context I work around 4x a week selling food in a food truck and learning Swiss German. My shifts are always from 12pm-9pm so I don’t have much time to hangout with before or after but we live near a lake so I always try to swim after work. I was worried about not making friends in Switzerland as iv heard is hard but iv met lots of amazing people and the easiest time for us to meet up is after our work at 9. We often hangout until midnight when it’s the most peaceful and quiet and the temperature is more moderate. But my grandparents have been absolutely hating me working or hanging out until 10. I talked with them. It’s now 11 but it’s not much time to do much. It’s important for me to hangout as when I first moved here I felt really isolated and lonely. My grandpa has been getting really aggressive to me and it feels like one of those people who are just impossible to relate to and have different humour etc and makes it hard to get along with. He has the idea that if he’s right he’s right and loud is right etc and it’s incredibly frustrating and been saying Im Making him miserable and should go back to North America and I only came here to work and nothing else which feels so frustrating and painful to hear. My grandpa for a while has been telling me I should just go back asap and that would make everyone else happy. I guess what I’m asking is what am I supposed to do now and is there a way I can somewhere Maybe I can rent alone or if it’s too late in the season or something else Sorry I hope what I wrote made sense submitted by /u/PerformerTerrible722
