Thank God Runescape taught me about scams at a young age, I just legitimately had this interaction 20 minutes ago: This dude in front of me in line at the dollar store looked excited and he turns around and tells me hes about to get $6,800 I ask him how? he says hes in a dating club and he sends $3,000 and in the same day they send $6,800 back. I tell this guy “Respectfully Mister, that’s a scam.” He disagrees and says he says 11 people in front of him (must’ve been in front of him online on this dating club website?) got their money. I say this to him, “Hear me out, if I asked you for 5 dollars and say ill give you 10 right back why would I do that? I’d be down $5 for no reason” He says something akin to “I have no idea why, its the craziest thing!” I again hit him with “Okay but if you’re the person running this dating club operation, why do it? To give you, a random stranger, money?” You can tell he thinks about it for like 5-ish seconds, then he immediately goes “I don’t know, but I’ve seen it happen already!” and leaves after being unable to send them this money order bs from the dollar store. I think you could’ve held a gun to this guy’s head and he’d still 1000% believe in this scam. Thanks Runescape for the life lessons. TL;DR Just saw a 60 something man fall for money doubling in real life. submitted by /u/gringisgreymane
