I love Switzerland. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and the place I met my bf whom I love so much. I’m going to talk about my experience at my studies. Because why not? Haha. Reddit’s what this is for, I guess. This is based on my personal experience, and does not represent all experiences of everyone who attended my school. I went to EHL. A very good school, whose name boosted my CV and took me to places I could not have imagined before. But the students and some of the culture at EHL were really traumatic for me. EHL attracts a certain kind of students. Privileged, entitled, rich, spoiled kids. With words, everyone would be saying ‘we’re all the same’ while drinking cocktails at the school bar, but would be one-upping each other with LV and Goyard bags and gossiping about whose bag is fake while smoking cigarettes with matchsticks. The gossip and classroom politics were to another level. I had never been in an environment since middle school where there was so much gossip and shit-talking. Everyone hated everyone while smiling in front of their faces, and the place thrived on gossip. It really wasn’t the place for me and hurt me a lot when I heard gossip about myself going around. The culture seemed very ‘exquisite’ and ‘standard of luxury’ but felt dystopian. Having to wear full suits and business attire to go to the canteen felt pretentious and made me so uncomfortable when I was refused entry when I was really sick and just wanted to buy a pastry and fruit to eat in my dorm. The staff sent me back and refused service because I was in casual wear, half-dead from being ill. The moment I felt something was really wrong was when I went out for a cigarette and saw my professor gossiping and talking shit about another student with students while smoking. It didn’t feel real that this would actually happen. Anyways, this was my experience. But contrary to my feelings toward school, I love Switzerland. I love my boyfriend and look forward to learning more about his culture. EHL didn’t even have a lot of Swiss people anyways. It was a school full of entitled kids from all over the world, haha. submitted by /u/Sweet_Hold2324
