Like many others, I have been dreaming of making a GIM for a long, long time. I’d been excited for weeks as I slowly gathered people interested in starting up a group, only to have it shot down twice by none other than Jagex. First time, half our group gets hit with a macroing ban (which is hilariously clear that it’s a false ban considering we were playing on our mains concurrently, both of which are still perfectly fine) and after alarmingly quick appeals that are immediately denied, we had no choice but to eat the costs and try to restart. We swore that this time, we wouldn’t rush any specific content that might flag our accounts (I rushed lava dragons for overheads and maybe a cheeky rune axe, the other was rushing Wintertodt for early skilling supplies and because she just happens to enjoy it) and took the time to go questing and pursuing other smaller goals first, like unlocking fairy rings. After several days of doing other things, she went back to finally try to do some Wintertodt and even banked the rewards until she hit 60 woodcutting for better logs and for the fun of it. Banned again. Now it’s really soured our mood to try to make any sort of progress, especially when community sentiment is to just keep throwing bonds at the problem until our accounts finally stick. We as the players have no avenue to get help, and now for some reason, the onus is on us to figure out what we can and cannot do, including some activities that are genuinely just really strong for early ironmen accounts. There is such little discussion scattered online about what we’re supposed to do here, both for the support that we were charged for and promised many months ago as well as how to just be allowed to play the game. How do we figure out what activities are allowed by Jagex to do, and when we’re allowed to do them? How do we collect and document evidence that we’re real players? What can we possibly do to make a new account and not get banned for having a suspicious amount of game knowledge? I just want to be able to play a nostalgic, decades old MMORPG with my friends and without being constantly stolen from by Jagex. submitted by /u/chocobozftw
