Just got my tax bill for last year and it has brought with it a wave of anxiety about cost of living. I am doing my Masters degree and work part time 2.5 days a week doing an office job I honestly hate because it is so brain-numbingly boring. I earn 2000.- CHF a month net. Now I got this tax bill of 800.- CHF. Serious question: How is anyone going to save any money on 2000.-/month? I am in the red numbers every month just by existing, paying rent and food and sometimes allowing myself to even do something enjoyable with the money like going to the cinema and not just survive. I truly don‘t live a luxurious life. I buy the cheapeat groceries at Aldi, try to keep my transportation costs as low as possible because train tickets cost half a leg as well. I can‘t comprehend how taxes are calculated because in no way are 2000.- CHF a liveable wage where you can put something back for taxes. How do you all do it?? For context I am 26, living with my partner and this is the first time I got a tax bill because I have never earned enough before. Seriously considering just dropping my Masters and earn more for a few years so that I can know what it feels like to save money. submitted by /u/littlemena
