Good news everyone! After my post last month begging for help with Drakan on mobile, I got it done. I had loads of headwinds: I’m 100 combat (75 atk 81 str), only have Chivalry and barrows gear, dadscaper with only a few hours a week to play, and I even further disadvantaged myself using a slayer helm when the wiki apparently says it’s useless. So… there are ways even for weak idiots like me to beat Drakan on mobile, with some adjustments. Sharing my unorthodox tips that might help people who have done the meta strategies over and over and are struggling, because mobile is a big disadvantage. I’m assuming you already know the standard recommendations about camera angle, practicing the 1st phase repeatedly, pre-pot, brew on every hit, etc. I also assume you can usually do a perfect dodge in phase 1. Efarity’s aid + Myth cape: The meta guides emphasize that Efarity is optional because high damage isn’t critical. But I found that I needed it even for practice runs so I could get to later phases faster and more consistently, and practice the sped up dodges. Your damage is still capped at Drakan, but the increased accuracy is still noticeable and I theorize that the max hit cap applies after your damage roll so you’ll notice consistent 25-30 hits and very few 0s (even at 75 attack, my 0s were rare). Only bring one full Efarity per fight. Why the myth cape?: It’s a rebanking strategy since you need a new Efarity every run and don’t want to waste inventory or time. It’s also a higher crush accuracy than fire cape (so IMO it’s BIS for this boss without infernal or max cape). The rebank is: Teleport to myth guild, destroy your current efarity aid to refresh charges, get a new one from a bank, withdraw ectophial (and 10k if you haven’t given Andras 1m for permanent boat rides). Ecto tele, take Andras’s boat, then take the other boat to Icyene graveyard, portal, bank your ectophial and get back in the fight. Total bank time ~30 seconds, reasonable to do even while you’re learning and dying. High Risk world: Not the high risk pvp worlds!! Try playing on the regular high-risk worlds (365, 474, 533) because the high-risk only matter on deaths in the wilderness , it’s a regular world otherwise. The lower player count had a material impact for me getting a higher dodge rate with the unsolvable input lag on mobile. Just make sure you hop to a regular world before the next time you do wildy content. Quick-prayer as protect Mage: This is controversial since quick-pray melee is advantageous for the last phase. But it was worth the trade off for me. After each special attack, you know you need mage prayer up or you get KO’d. On mobile you will likely have your prayer turned off by the environment during the special attack since you won’t be perfect. You also need to get the melee punishes right (bonus damage, and avoiding more blood waves), so the quick prayer lets you settle yourself for the dodge. This is related to the next 2 tips. Auto Retaliate on: And after each special attack, don’t bother clicking Drakan . You’re on mobile so you know his hitbox has a high misclick rate, plus he doesn’t start his melee attack until he gets to you so you can buy yourself a second to square up for the dodges. Tap your quick-prayer on, angle camera to match his approach, and do a perfect dodge. The PC sweats will say you missed a window to hit him by relying on auto retaliate, but this is a needed trade-off on mobile for the punish (and to avoid repeating the blood wave). You need all the melee punishes, and you need to avoid redoing the blood waves. Tank the last 1-2 blood waves in special attack 1: I found the blood waves impossible to do perfectly for mobile, probably because of framerate/latency issues. But related to the tip above, you need to be perfect on the melee punish, so you don’t want to be scrambling with your prayers/brewing/camera and risk a misclick or missed cue. So when the wave is ending, just tank one or two of them so you can focus on mage prayer, camera angle, brewing if there’s time , and watching the attack cues. You can brew to full and swap to pray melee after the punish, since he takes time to teleport away and back. Starting each dodge on mobile is janky: You know by now that you can’t start your dodge until he glows after his attack. But on mobile I found that the input lag almost cancelled the wait time when his attacks got faster. Don’t bother looking for his glow, instead you should be able to respond pretty naturally in the faster phases though there is still a small wait. Hurry through the Jad phase: This is the part after special attack 1 where he starts using his slow magic attack. He only uses it until around ~1500 health, and IMO this is the hardest part on mobile because switching menus for prayer/food just sucks (and quick prayer behaves funky) and you can get caught in a trap of brewing to survive without attacking/dodging. Brew every chance, even risk wasting sips, and once you’re high HP just manage prayer swapping. Risk your HP if it means getting through this sooner, so you can camp melee pray and heal when it’s done. Tag Drakan with the NPC Tag . I weirdly found it hard to see him reppear sometimes after the special attacks without it, he’s too damn small when you’re zoomed out on mobile. This also helped a little bit with the hitbox issue. I think that’s all but I’ll edit after I get over my euphoria at getting my quest cape back. I do think this boss needs some tweaks for the mobile experience (mainly because dodge timing is so inconsistent and so punishing), but it’s doable in its current form. submitted by /u/Epicwarren
