Hey , im kinda at a loss at where to turn , ive got good mates but i dont feel like being a downer for everyones mood so i need advice I lost my dad this past march/april. He was a great father and was taken due to illness. Im a relatively young man just turned 22. I study chemistry in uni and im struggling to have any drive or desire to do well in it. I feel like ive let my dad down in so many ways as to what he hoped i would become and ive let myself down in the same manner. Since his passing ive lost the one person who kept me on the straight and narrow always making sure i was doing what was best for me. I still mucked about took the piss with education but i knew i was smart enough to do really well. I just have no desire or hunger to put my all in, i procrastinate and find every excuse to avoid trying. Ive got this stupid subconscious attitude that if i dont try then i cant have properly failed. Ive got a beautiful and amazing girlfriend who seems to be surpassing me in every regard when i know im more capable. I know its old fashioned by todays standards but i always thought of myself as trying to be a gentleman and someone who would be the bread winner for my future family. Im looking at the way my life is going and i just feel like im on this hopeless path of failiure and disappointment. Is there any advice some of you wiser blokes could give me to not only get that fire back but also stop this stupid direction my life is taking. submitted by /u/Perfect-Tea-3192
