i had a lot conversations and when someone would tell me that they appreciate/ value something they do or something about themselves, i’d normally end up saying something like " wow, thats cool " i dont think thats what they want to hear or what i want to say, because when i say these things i imply a judgement on what they are, and secondly thats not what they exactly want, because to me the point of sharing something isnt to see whether people will like you or not, its about making sure they were seen. and these judgemental statements dont really meet that need. i already know how to show interest with asking follow up questions and sharing things about myself. but i dont thin its enough to create that rapport im looking for my goal when i talk to someone is to built rapport, not to trade information about each other. i appreciate any input and if someone had read a book or any article about what im looking for i’d be greatful til i die submitted by /u/Fun-Platform-4764
