I’m 24, and my divorce is in the final stages. We got together right after high school when we were both 18. She went to college while I became a pipefitter. I supported us while she was in school, although she ended up dropping out during her third year. We worked our asses off together, bought a house, vehicles, got pets, and built what I thought was a pretty solid life. About two months ago, my wife of 8 months (we’d been together for about 6 years total) told me she doesn’t love me anymore and doesn’t see a future with me. I tried talking through the issues, suggested counseling, and did everything I could think of to save the marriage, but she had no interest in working on it. At this point, I’ve accepted that it’s over. I know you can’t force someone to love you or stay. It still hurts, but I’m no longer trying to convince her to come back. What I’m struggling with now is figuring out how to move on. This relationship was basically my entire adult life up to now. I don’t even know what dating looks like anymore, and honestly I’m not even sure I want to date yet. The house feels empty, the routines are gone, and it feels like I’m starting over from scratch at 24 with just me & my dog. For the guys who’ve been through divorce or the end of a long-term relationship, what actually helped? What did you do that made the biggest difference, and how long did it take before you genuinely felt like yourself again? submitted by /u/KeyReflection1332
