Hey guys, I have been dating my gf (26F) for 4 years now. We have lived together for 2 years and share expenses for that time as well. Overall I’d say things are good, we have put in a lot of work emotionally to get over some big issues. We did long distance for two years, then moved in together. Long distance was obviously not very fun, and moving in has been fine but some external factors and being away from home did cause pressure points. Now it’s cleared up and I’m performing well at my job so feel more settled in to propose - and she is on board. But how did you get over the nerves? I am the first one in my friend group or out of both of our siblings to go through this so I have nobody to reference (my brothers proposal actually went as bad as it could go 6 months after and they called it off etc.). People like my gf, but they are aware of too much relationship conflict due to me being too open about it (I have since stopped going into these details but sadly the damage is done) so they seem hesitant about it because half a year ago I was really not liking it in this area I moved to. So now I’m sitting here worried about if this is the right decision? Did anyone propose in their mid 20s and have similar nerves? How did it go? submitted by /u/ArsenalChamps2026
