Ughhh I was 16 and I’d borrowed my mom’s minivan to take this gorgeous, brilliant girl out. We’d driven to a park, walked, talked, kissed a bit, then I brought her back to her house. We were parked outside and she’d unbuckled her seatbelt, crawled over the console and was sitting in the back seat, literally PATTING the seat next to her suggesting that I join her back there…!

And me? Sitting in the driver’s seat, awkwardly twisted around to face her and continue our chitchat like the world’s most oblivious idiot. Finally I suppose she got tired of dropping A-bomb sized hints and politely got outta there.

25+ years later and it still stings.
