Hello, guys, I’m a gay man in my late twenties. Recently I have had some traumatic experience when I got abused by a partner and I couldn’t defend myself. I am a very isolated person so I had this friend who knew everything about me and my vulnerabilities and used them to belittle me. The worst thing I remember was when he got angry about something and started hitting me and saying some degrading stuff and I laughed it off , his friend stopped him to just say something to him but I saw him laughing as well. So in general I can’t confront people. I want to be stronger and confident because especially after the traumatic experience which I have briefly mentioned I feel like I have no sense of self, dignity or self worth. I’m scared of this situation and of who I am. I want to leave everything in the past and trust my family to help me grow and become a better person and man. Does anyone here have a similar problem? Please share so that I feel less alone with this problem. If someone has an experience of becoming more confident and assertive, please share. I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance guys. submitted by /u/True_Wind4199
