I can’t stand it anymore… My CLAUDE.MD has only two instructions: Trying to keep code without comments, add them only if they are critical for module/feature understanding and code isn’t very obvious. Do not add metadata into comments like dates, links to plans, etc. Look to AGENTS.MD AND EVERYTHING HE DOES OR TOUCHES IS COMMENTED. How? WHy? It’s Opus 5 exclusively. Sonnet rarely does it, and I believe he more tries to follow existing styling, so if opus wrote something it sees that it should add comment and does it, but still rarely. Every time I “push back on this” it apologizes and starts removing comments. And no, there is no bug, when it didn’t read CLAUDE.MD , I just need to mention comment guidelines - and it knows it. It knows and follows a lot of things from AGENTS.MD , but comments… Even much dumber models do not ignore instructions so blatantly… And no, it’s not only adds comments it also adds metadata, which explicitly asked not to do… It just burns tokens, and then I have to burn more to cleanup the mess. And all of this on top of other things like how it talks and other… It writes good code, catches things, dives deep if asked, but this… Why? submitted by /u/old_mikser
